The 1960s Taos art scene was marked by the emergence of the Taos Moderns, a group of abstract artists who, while not an official society, brought new perspectives to the area. This period saw a shift away from the romanticised depictions of the Southwest that had characterised earlier Taos art, with artists exploring nonobjective and abstract styles. Pueblo Fine Arts was one of the first fine art galleries to open in Taos as the town’s art scene began to attract interest from Los Angeles and New York.
