PEANUTS Sweatshirts

Art and social commentary has long gone hand in hand, Schulz’s Peanuts strip being an exemplar of this, beginning in the 1950s and into the 60s, this period saw Schulz at this most potent in reflecting the culture around him. The 1960s Los Angeles art scene was vibrant and influential, marked by a spirit of experimentation and a rejection of traditional art world structures. In 1967 the prestigious American Art Journal ran a cover story on Schulz and Peanuts, realigning the cartoonist into the same American artistic pantheon as Warhol, Pollock and Raushenberg. This collection celebrates the golden age of West Coast art and art galleries.
