TSPTR Paris 68 Ballcap in Navy Cotton Twill with embroidered design

During the Paris student uprisings of 1968, the slogan "Sous les pavés, la plage!" (Beneath the paving stones, the beach!) emerged as a rallying cry to reclaim public space from the profit-driven control imposed from above. It symbolised a desire for freedom, human connection, and playful interaction – values embodied by the beach. The call urged to uncover the untapped potential of cities, hidden beneath the rigid structures of modern urban life.

A Situationist slogan, it also has the double meaning of both "beneath the system of order lies nature/pleasure/vacation" and that the key to reaching that is civil insurrection, which in the traditional Parisian sport of barricading the streets involves tearing up the paving stones.

Our staple baseball cap is made in Portugal using cotton twill with bound interior seams. Mid rise with a snapback.
