Malibu Country Mart was founded in 1975 and has gone through several transformations over the years. Originally the Mart housed a bunch of practical stores for local Malibu residents including a grocery and hardware store. In 1977 Malibu Records opened it’s doors, pulling in customers from the entire Malibu area including Topanga, Zuma and further afield. Much of it’s success was down the volume of musicians living in Malibu at that time, a regular who’s who of the LA music scene including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Elton John and members of the Eagles among others.
