TSPTR x EAST ASIA SUPPLY CO Tigerstripe Tote Bag

Our large heavy duty tote, based on Vietnam War US Air Force helmet bags, is constructed from a patchwork of authentic 'Nam era Tigerstripe patterns. Features include a fully lined interior with metal clasp closure, mil spec webbing handles, five reproduction USAF Snoopy 'party suit' patches and a black steel Peace pendant.

Carefully crafted in the East Asia Supply Co workshop, each bag is bench made ensuring attention to detail and quality workmanship. Each Tiger pattern is period authentic and custom made in Japan for EAS.

Tiger pattern camouflage evolved from French Lizard pattern camo used in Vietnam in the 1950s. When the US began sending military personnel to South Vietnam in the early 1960s, USMAAG advisors attached to the ARVN were authorised to wear their Vietnamese unit's Tiger pattern combat uniform with US insignia. Soon, many US Special Forces groups in South East Asia wore the pattern, it became the visible trademark of Marine Corps Recon, Green Berets, LRRPs, SEALs and later USAF Forward Air Controller's.

By the late 1960s Snoopy had become ubiquitous in Vietnam among the serving US troops, unofficial unit insignia featuring America's favourite beagle, usually in his Flying Ace guise, were made incountry, adorning flight suits, helmet bags and souvenir jackets.
