TSPTR meets BOB CHATT
In 1977, when Bob Chatt was ten years old, he began actively collecting militaria. “It was history, it was heraldry, it was patriotic; but really, to a young kid, it was just plain cool. My focus zeroed in on Vietnam War memorabilia in 1979 when I saw “Apocalypse Now”. It was awesome and I knew this was what I wanted to collect.”
Bob Chatt’s Vintage Productions is a mecca for collectors of vintage militaria, nothing else in the Western hemisphere comes close. His Huntington Beach, CA, showroom has become THE destination for collectors around the globe who are looking to purchase anything from SOG worn Tigerstripes to WWII POW fatigues, early USN flight jackets, Montagnard clothing, USAF party suits or an original incountry made RT insignia. Bob also runs the incredible LA Vintage Rendezvous show, where top tier dealers can be found selling the rarest of pieces.
Aside from being ridiculously knowledgeable on everything and anything Vietnam War related, he also has a big affection for movie related ephemera. Naturally Bob is a collector himself, digging rag mills and trading premium pieces for over 40 years. If asked nicely he might show you his insane Apocalypse Now collection.
We caught up with Bob at his showroom recently to discuss all things Apocalypse Now and Tigerstripe.
