TSPTR JOURNAL presents KUBRICK

112 pages dedicated to the ultimate auteur, Perfect Bound, 27 cm x 21 cm, 140gsm textured paper, full colour

"It’s funny how the colours of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen."

Director Stanley Kubrick was one of the most consistently fascinating filmmakers of the 20th century. Just as his singularly brilliant visual style won him great acclaim, his unconventional sense of narrative and undeniable visceral intensity and visual imagination often elicited critical puzzlement. A unique artist capable of a wide diversity, Kubrick laid claim to a distinctive style of cinema often imitated, but never duplicated. Like Dr. Strangelove and 2001: A Space Odyssey before it - and The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut subsequently - masterworks like A Clockwork Orange have since been parodied, pilloried, and fully subsumed into our collective DNA. Insert a scalpel at any random point in the past five decades of global pop culture and you’ll find a steady, pumping stream of red, red kroovy.

In this special edition of the TSPTR Journal we focus on three of Kubrick's most critically acclaimed works from three separate decades - 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket. Featuring essays from a range of Kubrick acolytes from around the globe, with numerous photographs and full colour illustrations by graphic artist Dan Wilson.
