TSPTR x EAST ASIA WAR Necklace with coloured trade beads
Many of the US Special Forces units operating in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were career soldiers or volunteers rather than those who had been Drafted. As such their take on the war and its wider cultural impact differed from the average young American and spoke to the division of the country at the time of the Vietnam War.
While many of the troops wore peace symbols and badges, grew their hair and smoked marijuana, Special Forces soldiers, in deference to this, had their own necklaces made. In direct opposition to the 'hippie' peace symbols they wore incountry made WAR necklaces. These were usually either made from steel or brass and worn on hippie style beads or a chain.
