Topanga Records was a record store that catered to rock music fans whose tastes were often far from mainstream. Hidden away in Topanga Canyon it was opened in 1968 and became a legendary spot for those in the know, often playing host to impromptu jams from the famous local musicians. Like many counterculture record stores of the time they started adding drug paraphernalia in the 1970s, until this part of the business was making much more money than the records.
