TSPTR presents DENNIS WILSON
Dennis Wilson was the Beach Boys’s only surfer, an unruly rebel and the group’s the group’s manic id, a pleasure seeking hedonist who grabbed fistfuls of life with unfettered abandon. He was a man of extremes, his insatiable appetite for sex, drugs and rock’n’ roll meant he lived precipitously on the edge. Yet he was compassionate and generous, a sensitive man of emotional depth who also possessed a ton of talent.
One day in late 1978 Dennis met Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie at Village Recorders in LA where he'd been working on tracks for his second solo record Bambu. The electricity was immediate and they began a highly publicised, whirlwind romance, quickly becoming rock and rolls most talked about couple. Their tumultuous relationship was deeply defined by the cocaine and alcohol culture of the late 1970s LA scene and they finally split in 1981. Mac's Lindsey Buckingham would later write a poignant posthumous tribute to Dennis titled "DW Suite" on his 1984 solo album Go Insane.
