The iconic Hornsea Bird Dish will brighten up your living room and your coffee tables! Based on John Clappison’s original designs for Hornsea Pottery, the ceramic dish captures both the colour and style of the late Sixties.  You can use the dish as an ornament – it stands happily on its side – or use it to hold nibbles, nuts or sweets.

The dish comes in an attractively designed gift box, ready for you to wrap and send.  It makes the ideal gift for weddings, birthdays, home comings or home warmings.

Hornsea Potteries was founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson. It began as a cottage industry until the Hornsea Pottery Company was founded in 1954 and quickly established a reputation for innovative design and creative manufacturing methods.

Hornsea’s rapid growth was generated by widespread popularity of their quirky nature driven designs, particularly those using the illustration works of John Clappison which tapped into the 1960s / 70s renewed cultural interest in folklore and the natural world. At a time when The Good Life graced our TV screens and witchcraft hit the newspaper headlines again, these colourful yet strangely esoteric designs were hugely popular on British breakfast tables.

By referencing the original illustrations preserved in the Hornsea Museum, these treasured designs have been reproduced again using new ceramic moulds and authentic Hornsea colours.

These design classics are available in a bright, bold collection of mugs, trinket trays, and plant pots, all in hand moulded & hand glazed stoneware and all with fantastic matching gift boxes.
