Limited edition TSPTR x Rivendell Mountain Works Lupine Day Pack in Purple / Turquoise colorway
Founded in 1971 in Snoqualmie, WA, Rivendell Mountain Works was the brainchild of climber Larry Horton. The name was taken from Tolkein's The Lord of the Rings, a book much loved by Horton and the climbing community at that time. The flagship products were based on designs created by the late Don Jensen, who was a climber active with the Harvard Mountaineering Club, in the 1960’s. Larry had a keen sense of how to manufacture these products to a high standard and a design philosophy of adhering to a theme of simplicity. In the 1977 catalog, Larry wrote “In spite of our choice to remain a cottage industry-or, perhaps, because of it-we have managed to continue an innovative influence on the world of equipment for backpackers, climbers and skiers.”
If you've never carried a “teardrop” design pack, this shape is one of the best for carrying a day to day amount of gear, perfectly balanced on your back. The teardrop design originated in the 1970’s and this modified teardrop is more rounded at the top, which is more practical for packing without messing up the design ethos. RMW pride themselves in overbuilding this pack, with double bottom, #10 zipper and double sewn seams, you could probably fill the pack with pig iron and never worry about blowing out a seam. Suffice it to say the construction will insure that it lasts a lifetime, unlike most of the daypacks on the market
Made with the same attention to detail as all RMW packs, the Lupine pack stands about 46cm (18″) tall and holds about 21 liters (1300 cu in) of gear.
Our version has a full foam back for comfort and packing ease, waist strap, key clip, hidden inner pocket and leather 'bar bell' gear tie on's.
