MADE IN SEATTLE, USA
Classic 1960s outdoor 'freezer' jacket with diagonal quilt pattern. Crescent Down Works was founded by Anne Michelson in 1974 as a custom-order down vest company in Seattle, Washington. Inspired by her love of hiking, camping, and the outdoors. Today, CDW products are still made in the same Seattle factory, one garment at a time, ensuring their World renown quality and attention to detail
Long before the days of GoreTex or Polartec, the go to weather resistant fabric was 60/40 cloth. Originally developed in the US during the 1950s for military applications, 60/40 fabric is a combination of 60% cotton and 40% nylon. The cotton and nylon fibres are woven perpendicular to each other into a dense fabric that actually increases in density when wet, helping to further repel water and wind. In dry conditions the fabric is extremely breathable, perfect for vigorous outdoor activities. 60/40 fabric makes extremely warm and durable jackets
Our jacket also features wool rib collars and cuffs, down filled pockets and an engraved solid nickel escape whistle made in England by ACME Whistles
The Goose Down used in this garment is sourced from ethically harvested down. CDW only use suppliers who adhere to the strict ethics code, this ensures holistic respect for the birds welfare from hatchling to slaughter. Any removal of down and feathers from live birds (live-plucking or molt-harvesting) is strictly prohibited. Force-feeding is prohibited. Each stage in the supply chain is audited by a professional.
