Loosely based on ideas from Aleister Crowley’s then-defunct occult initiatory Ordo Templi Orientis, the Knights of the Solar Lodge was a secret magickal organisation established in Los Angeles in 1962. Set in motion by “Solar Knight” Ray Burlingame (aka Frater Aquarius, who was a Ninth Degree member of OTO), the Solar Lodge expand to include over 50 members by 1967, owning several small mansions in Laurel Canyon and Malibu, a gas station, a bookstore and a desert property known as Solar Ranch in the Sonoran desert.
